Our Mission at Aquatic Fitness

To improve function and quality of life after injury or disease, through timely and effective therapeutic intervention including education, treatment and prevention.

Aquatic Fitness, Inc. provides aquatic and land based physical therapy for a wide range of diagnoses. Aquatic therapy is physical therapy using a warm water treatment environment. This form of therapy reverses the effects of gravity thereby reducing the pain associated with joint stress and weight bearing. Treatment involves various exercises based upon an individual patient diagnosis.

We utilize the properties of water to increase or decrease muscle resistance with the goal of total body rehabilitation. Exercise and instruction is performed in a SwimEx pool. Each program is designed and directed by licensed physical therapists, who have been certified by the Aquatic Therapy and Rehab Institute.

Land Therapy

Traditional Physical Therapy is treatment of disorders of the muscles, bones, or joints by means of physical agents–heat, manual and electronic massage, and exercise. Spine injuries, arthritis, fractures, and nerve damage are common conditions treated. Treatment is prescribed by a physician. The therapist attempts to prevent pain or further damage while retraining muscles.

Work Conditioning

Physical therapy tailored to the demands of the patient’s job activities. It is a custom plan for rehabilitation that takes into account the patient’s return to work goals.

Augmented Soft Tissue Mobilization (ASTYM)

This system is a therapy approach that provides patients relief from a number of injuries, by addressing the problems of scarring and degeneration that occurs in soft tissues. These problems may develop as the result of trauma, surgery, or overuse.  The system is effective for new injuries as well as chronic conditions. One of the most exciting aspects of the treatment is that significant improvement often occurs even in cases where other treatments have failed.
